Weekly Recap: 4/28 - 5/4
Week 11: 80.33mi, 9h8m, 3,147ft, no doubles
Solid week of training, really starting to feel like I’m getting my legs under me. Think I’m setting myself up well for the last 5 weeks of training before the 1/2 Saur 1/2 Kraut Marathon in Philly on 6/7. Goal for that race is just to win treat it like a long workout. Would be happy with anything under 2:40 as long as I’m working. Trying to really dial in 6:00 pace. Anyway, here are my takeaways for the week.
Highlight was my Saturday long run- 20 miles at ~6:35 pace around a ~0.95mi loop near my house. Pretty mind numbing, but once I fought through miles 14-17, it was pretty smooth sailing. Only big issue was the chaffing along the way and my legs felt great the day after, probably because I spent a while on the foam roller after- go figure.
Lowlight was my Tuesday afternoon workout- I had to run it around noon because my dog had surgery in the morning to remove a tumor (benign!). In any case, it was hot as balls out, probably 85 or 90 degrees at the track. Goal was 6xMile@5:20-5:30 w/ 2mins rest, but only got 2 of those done plus the first 400 of what would have been my third. Took a breather, walked inside to use the bathroom, got some water, and then did a 4mi tempo working down from 5:55 pace to 5:35 roughly. Happy to get the mileage in for the workout but definitely not the most fun day.
Have to keep up on core work- really only got ~40mins in on Thursday and neglected throughout the week aside from that.
Doing a lot better at rolling out before and after runs to take care of my hips especially.
